The club is looking for a Sugar Daddy to help fund our quest for a new net and artificial pitch. The successful candidate will be allowed by the club to spend their money on whatever the club asks for. In return we can offer you a plastic chair to sit and watch the game from, cups of tea, and the freedom of the shed. We may also consider a Sugar Mummy but that will depend on her assets.
27th August 2010
Sax almost managed to steal a victory against Rumburgh but didn't quite have enough runs on the board, ending up losing a close game by 2 wickets. Have added all the outstanding results and updated the 1st XI and 2nd XI stats.
17th August 2010
Committee meeting, Monday 23rd August, 8pm at Carlton Park. Be there and be square.
12th August 2010
Sax's losing streak continues. 1st XI stats updated, the 2nd XI ones will follow when their precious finds its way back to the stats mainframe.
6th August 2010
Updated some stuff.
31st July 2010
Finally updated the results.
21st July 2010
Sax won an exciting game away against Caribbeans by 3 wickets. Set a target of 185 Sax had reached 160-3 and seemed to be comfortably on course to victory until a Caribbeans hat-trick then reduced Sax to 160-6. A few nervous smells started to appear but Gary Butler steadied things down and saw the team home with a captains knock of 28 not out. Gary also lead a team to victory in the Rumburgh 6-A-Side Tournament, the 4th year in a row. The 2nd XI lost away against Worlingworth, not sure exactly what happened but it wasn't Sax's finest day.
16th July 2010
The next round of the plate is against Rosary Cavaliers on 25th July, at Carlton Park. Have added some new photos (big up the Jamie), there's now a 2nd XI team photo, along with photos from the Woodbridge game, the 2nd XI against Worlingworth and Kesgrave against the 2nd XI. The stats have been updated.
12th July 2010
Sax moved into the next round of the plate after disposing of the Woodbridge filth with a 7 wicket victory. Despite a rusty start Sax bowled Woodbridge out for 136 with all the bowlers taking wickets, starlet Dan Crane took the bowling honours with 3-30. Then Stephen Owston smacked a quickfire 38 (yes really!) and Nick Brett top scored with 43 of the finest Carlton Park runs as Sax got home with plenty of time left to watch the carnage that was the football world cup final.
6th July 2010
After discussions with health and safety this weeks results have been censored to protect the already fragile players from further mental trauma. It was a lovely sunny day though. Nudge nudge, both teams lost.
29th June 2010
Nick Brett and Dan Saunders shared a 3rd wicket partnership of 114, Nick went on to score 89 and Dan 60 as the 2nd XI set a strong total of 215-5 at Carlton Park, which was enough to beat Felixstowe 3rd XI by 69 runs. The day before the Academy beat Kesgrave by 87 runs in a fast scoring and high wicket taking game, Arron Fairweather finishing with excellent figures of 6-25.
22nd June 2010
Stats fest - Stephen Owston scored the club's first ton of the year with 104, Luke Meike took 7-32, Stephen Owston and Gary Butler shared a 155 run partnership, Ben Brown took 3-45, Dan Crane took 3 catches, plus Olly Ackland-Snow uttered 2,872,269 words, of which 85.4% were expletives. Have updated the stats, added the academy results and added the 1st XI team photo.
14th June 2010
Arse. And relax.
10th June 2010
Saturday's home academy game against Brantham is now a 1pm start so that it doesn't clash with the world cup football.
9th June 2010
The 2nd XI won an exciting run chase by 2 wickets at home against Felixstowe Corinthians. Set a target of 184 on an overcast and drizzly afternoon Sax made a solid start with an opening partnership of 62 between Jamie Thurston and Stephen Brett's granite bat. Jamie Thurston went on to anchor the innings with a stallionesque 73. As wickets started to fall the game could have gone either way but some lusty hitting from the lower order combined with some bellowing from the captain got the team home with 11 balls to spare. Photos of the run chase are here. The 1st XI's match against Sudbourne Hall was abandoned due to rain. The game was nicely poised, Sax had restricted Sudbourne Hall to 171-9 from 44 overs, Dan Crane had taken 4-42. Oddly enough it's the same fixture in the cup match next week so it should be a good game.
3rd June 2010
Stats... 1st XI, 2nd XI and Under 15 stats for 2010 are available. The lucky few have earned the right to bask in their glory, the rest of us can read them and weep. The good news is that there is plenty of time left in the season to improve. Practice, practice, practice. Wasn't that what Yoda said, or was it He-Man? Not sure.
2nd June 2010
A disappointing weekend saw the 1st XI lose to Stradbroke and the 2nd XI lose away to Kesgrave. Both sides had chances to win but mistakes and dropped catches made the difference. Stephen Owston gave a Geoffrey Boycott batting masterclass by batting the whole Sax 1st XI innings for 88 not out and in the process running out three partners. Luke Meikle took 3-29 for the 2nd XI. Not much else to report without slagging everyone off, which is tempting....
28th May 2010
Rory Drummond took the first 5 wicket haul of the season with 5-15 in the 2nd XI home game against Coddenham & Grundisburgh. Sax's low total of 92 wasn't enough and Coddenham & Grundisburgh scored the runs for the loss of 5 wickets, all taken by Rory. The Under 15s lost a close game against Stradbroke, Ryan Meikle top scored with 30 in Sax's total of 101-8 but Stradbroke got home with two balls to spare.
24th May 2010
Climate change showed its friendlier side as the 1st XI beat BT & Waldringfield on a hot and sunny day in Ipswich. Sax put in a good all round performance on a dry and dusty pitch, setting a decent total of 230-7 and then restricting BT & Waldringfield to 166-7 to seal a 64 run victory. Everyone played their part in the game, especially Trevor Crane with an important catch supplementing his motivational team talks and tactical nuances. Shout outs go to Tiger Woods Billy Thurston who had another great game, bowling 38 dot balls in a row and scoring 34 not out, Stephen Owston who top scored with 52 and kept wicket tidily, plus to Gary Butler who bowled tightly and took 3 wickets, again.
19th May 2010
The 2nd XI tasted that winning feeling at Carlton Park, beating Worlingworth by 22 runs. Stephen Brett lead from the front and scored his first 50 of the season with his aesthetically pleasing innings of 61. Along with the fruit of his loins he put on a 2nd wicket partnership of 94 runs to help Sax set a good total of 195-7. Sax then restricted Worlingworth to 173-9, with Dan Saunders taking 3-19, to seal their first victory of the year. Meanwhile the 1st XI were away at Kesgrave and did well to restrict Kesgrave to 180-7. Gary Butler took 3 wickets again for the 3rd time in 3 consecutive games. Sax had reached 113-8 before stubborn resistance from Billy Thurston and Tom Feveyear kept pushing the score up towards the target. Another close finish was looming but climate change had other ideas, the increasingly grey clouds dumped their load all over the pitch and caused the match to be abandoned.
14th May 2010
Despite the ash cloud Jamie has secured a shipment of coke club caps to purchase. They are high quality Beechfield caps and cost £10. The club's new recommended reading material is Nineteen Eighty-Four, which will become clear once you purchase a cap. Ray also has an assorted selection of cricket equipment for sale, there are pads, shirts, shoes, grips, stumps, bails, all sorts of great value stuff really. If you are interested just accost the relevant person next time you see them. Buy them a drink if you want a discount (legal disclaimer – discount may not be honoured).
11th May 2010
Sax progressed into the next round of the cup after winning their preliminary round match against Stowupland. Forties from Ray Halls and Gary Butler were the only highlights in a spluttering Sax total of 178. However it all clicked into place when an all round tight bowling performance then bowled Stowupland out for 46, John Martin stealing the best bowling figures with 3-1-2-3. The 2nd XI game against Felixstowe Corinthians was cancelled.
8th May 2010
The Under 15s started their season with two close games. First up was Easton. Bowling first Sax restricted Easton to 107-9 from their 20 overs, Arron Fairweather took the bowling honours with his excellent figures of 4-0-12-3. Angus Ferguson batted throughout the Sax innings to finish on 52 not out and guide Sax to a 3 wicket win. Worlingworth were next and another good bowling performance bowled them out for 101. James Ross took 4-18 and was backed up by Tom Winter, Luke Meikle and Ryan Meikle who all took 2 wickets. In reply the Sax innings kept losing wickets but some late order agricultural clubbing kept the target in sight until Sax fell just short to lose by 3 runs.
2nd May 2010
The weather took its first scalps of the year with both the 1st and 2nd team games cancelled due to rain. Added a web feed to this drivel so now you can be automatically informed of our latest news. Your browser should detect the feed automatically or you can manually select it here.
26th April 2010
The 1st XI had an exciting game at home against Caribbeans. Set a target of 171 Sax had a wobbly start at 44-3 but a 42 run partnership between Gary Butler and Dan Crane steadied things down. Wickets started to fall and Sax reached 127-8. A 24 run partnership between Woodbridge batting bowling legend Andrew Dearing and Peter Sampson pushed the score up to 151-9. There were a few clenched cheeks in the scorebox but they could soon relax after an unbroken 10th wicket partnership of 20 between Peter Sampson and Tom Feveyear got Sax home, ending up winning by 1 wicket with two balls remaining. Big thanks go to Stephen Owston for providing the partnership information. The 2nd XI started their 2010 campaign with a loss away to Felixstowe 3rds. Although Felixstowe won by 6 wickets Stephen Brett started his new tenure as captain by showing how to enjoy playing cricket. The side are looking forward to an enjoyable 2010 season.
19th April 2010
The 1st XI started the club's inaugural Clubmark season with a loss away to Ipswich. Practice is on Wednesdays starting at 6 ish. Hands up who thinks we need it.
11th April 2010
Thanks to everyone who came to the fun day, despite being fooled by the weather and ending up being wind blasted into submission it was fun. Adult practice is starting this Wednesday, we'll try for a 6pm start. The session plan of action is this: circuit training, a bleep test, another bleep test, then finger painting combined with sledging techniques. We will then finish with a general knowledge quiz followed by a game of I spy.
8th April 2010
Have given the site a spring clean. Details about membership and coaching for the 2010 season are now available, there's now no reason not to pay membership subscriptions, we have ways and means of making you pay... Also check out our shiny Clubmark certificate.
4th April 2010
We've planned a club fun day for Sunday 11th April, starting at 1pm at Carlton Park. Ideally we'll all get together, play a Twenty20 game, the juniors can play kwik cricket, we'll all gorge at the BBQ, everyone will pay their membership subscription without being cornered and a fun day will be had by all. Most likely though we'll all be in the pavilion hiding from the rain and cold, annoying each other. Still, even that could be fun.

8th February 2010
Nets are starting this Sunday, the 14th, at Framlingham College, 2 till 4pm. Everyone is welcome, any standard, any age, we want you. Even left handers. It'll be Valentines day so why not impress your partner by getting a sweat on at cricket. If you're lucky they might even wash your kit as a way of showing their devotion to you.
